Do I need to register my privately owned weapons on base?

Personnel residing in base dormitories or TLFs must register any privately owned firearm within 72 hours of arrival (dormitory and TLF residents must store their weapons in the security forces armory). To register your firearm, call 884-6261. 

How do I get a military ID card?

Military ID cards are issued at military personnel's customer service counter, in Bldg 90210, room 142. The telephone number is 884-5252. The hours of operation for CAC cards is Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Military members need not be in uniform, but must present the proper military image in accordance with Air Force Instruction 36- 2903, Dress and Personal Appearance of Air Force Personnel.

Please note that all persons obtaining an ID card must now have two forms of ID (a previous military ID card, driver's license, passport, birth certificate, SSN card, etc). This holds true even if you have already presented this information in the past.

How do I get my household goods delivered?

If you’re expecting a shipment of personal property, call the Traffic Management Office at 884-6051 upon arrival. To arrange for delivery of shipments, bring copies of your orders to TMO, Bldg. 90210, Rm. 157, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday. How do I register my children for school?

Simply go to the school and present proof of birthday and immunization against polio, diphtheria, measles, rubella, pertussis, tetanus and mumps. Florida law requires physical examinations for all students entering the school system for the first time, regardless of grade. Any child 5 years old by Sept. 1 is eligible for public kindergarten. Children may enter first grade if they are 6 years old by Sept. 1 and have completed a kindergarten program. Children must complete kindergarten, either public or private, before being admitted to first grade. For details on provisions for admission, contact any elementary school or write to the appropriate county superintendent’s office.

How will I receive mail while stationed at Hurlburt Field?

Dormitory residents receive mail at lock boxes in the dormitories or in the postal service center. In any event, you should report to the postal service center, in Bldg. 0228, to let them know you've arrived and give them your address. You may have your mail sent to the following general delivery address to hold your mail until you arrive:

What are the emergency phone numbers on base?

The 911 emergency system is used on Hurlburt Field and in the local communities for fire, rescue and police services. Dialing 911 from an on-base phone will connect you to base emergency services, the 16th Security Forces Squadron and the base fire department. Dialing 911 from an off-base residence will connect you with local emergency services.

What do I do once I arrive on base?

Upon arrival contact your sponsor or unit orderly room. Your initial sign-in will be with  your unit orderly room. If you arrive after duty hours, meet your sponsor at the billeting office and sign-in the following day at the orderly room.

Once you've signed in, bring your PCS package to the military personnel flight customer service section in building 90210. There you will be scheduled for the one-stop inprocessing briefing and Commando Connection.

What is Commando Connection?

Spouses are encouraged to attend this briefing where you will:
· Hear from the wing commander and many agencies on base, including the education office, public affairs, security forces and the Honor Guard;
· Be introduced to local law enforcement and receive safety briefings from disaster preparedness officials about hurricane preparations.

· Okaloosa Regional Airport is on State Road 85, near Eglin Air Force Base.
· Pensacola Airport is on Airport Road in Pensacola, about 35 miles from Hurlburt Field.
