7/2/2012 - HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- More than 500 Air Commandos and their families registered to donate bone marrow during a drive at the Hurlburt Field Base Exchange and Commissary June 25-29.
Organizers from Detachment 3, 342nd Training Squadron coordinated with the C.W. Bill Young Department of Defense Marrow Donor Program as a means to heighten awareness and recruit potential donors to save lives.
"Registering doesn't hurt, and you can save a life," said Tech. Sgt. Jeremiah Herr, an instructor at Detachment 3, 342nd Training Squadron.
Nearly 40 volunteers helped enrollees fill out required paperwork, demonstrate how to swab the inside of your mouth and send completed applications to the program registry.
"If I can help someone in need, I'd like to do so," said Tech. Sgt. Sid Quick, 1st Special Operations Group and a program registrant.
